Welcome to ARO!

Established in 2024, Amesville Revitalization Organization (ARO) is a registered 501c3 nonprofit whose purpose is to create economic, cultural, and social opportunities for the residents of the village of Amesville, Ohio, and the surrounding area. Our first project is the acquisition and renovation of the historic 10 State Street building, with the goal of returning a restaurant to the village. Partnering with Capstone Property Management, and with enthusiastic support from the community, we are close to completion on this initial undertaking.

In addition, we are excited to be taking over the running of the popular Amesville Writers’ Workshop, which celebrates its third year this summer. And in conjunction with the Athens County Public Libraries, we will shortly be launching the Appalachian Community Reads series of book group events focusing on both classic and contemporary works by Appalachian authors.

We have much, much more planned, so please keep checking in here and follow us on social media for the latest information. If you would like to contribute to our work, consider making a tax-deductible donation.

The creation of ARO was inspired by the fantastic work being done by our friends at Glouster Revitalization Organization and other groups dedicated to improving their communities.
